   Turn your dream business idea into a viable reality The NEIS Programme provides eligible unemployed people with small business training, income assistance and business mentoring support during the first year of business.
Free small business courses are run regularly at Parramatta and Mt Druitt by Mission Australia.
Mission Australia is the largest provider of NEIS services in Australia. In 2007, Mission Australia NEIS helped over 850 people start their own businesses. Eligibility Criteria:
To be eligible for NEIS assistance you must:
- Be registered with Centrelink, and in receipt
of income support e.g. Newstart, PPS. Carer,
DSP etc.
- Please note that there is no minimum
waiting period to be on payments (you qualify
the first day you receive them) and there are
over 20 eligible payments.
- Be at least 18 years of age at the time of signing
the NEIS Contract.
- Be available to undertake the full time course in
small business management.
- Not be an undischarged bankrupt.
- Not have received the NEIS Allowance in the
last two years.

- Training in Small Business Management
- Assistance to develop your business plan
- Payment of a NEIS allowance - paid fortnightly
- totalling over eleven thousand dollars and paid independent of business income
- Your own Business Mentor to provide you with guidance and advice for the first twelve months of business
- Invitations to free networking events
- An opportunity to list your business on the online NEIS Business Directory
