St Michaels Occasional Childcare and Preschool is a part of St Michaels Family Centre which has been established for many years.
Occasional childcare currently runs on Tuesday and Fridays, has been operating for 15 years, with staff whom are highly skilled and trained.
You may book your child/ren in for a minimum of one hour onwards - so you only pay for the hours you use.
St Michaels Occasional child care is an essential service to the community by providing quality care to meet parents and children's needs.
It's a unique childcare service which supports families by providing flexible care for children from birth to school age.
How Does Occasional Childcare Work?
You may book your child/ren in for a minimum of one hour onwards - you only pay for the hours you use.
Parents use Occasional Care for many reasons from appointments, cleaning the house, time out, study, shopping, and work.
Occasional childcare is also a very good start for children to learn to separate from their parents, simply because you can use an hour at a time .

The major part of Separation anxiety in children is understanding that mum or dad will be back, and that the child feels safe and secure.
Hence the benefit of a small service.
What Do Children Do When They Attend Occasional Care?
At St Michael's the children are not just left to their own devices. They are offered a rich programme of actvities to stimulate and excite them.
The day is programmed for by trained staff and some of the activities the children may do are:-
- Art and craft
- Table top activities
- Playdough
- Homecorner
- Sandpit gross motor activities
- Water play
- Singing
- Dancing
- Language based group times.
Tuesday afternoon program also incorporates 'Spark Your Child's Curiosity" for children aged 3 - 5years and encourages children's curiosity, through fun-based, hands-on science experiments, cooking, art and craft and social games.
St Michael's Occasional Child care is a small centre with a philosophy that encourages family grouping, this means that siblings are not separated.
The flexible hours of Occasional care service allows parents the opportunity to introduce their children to care by enrolling them for short periods of time to begin with, gradually increasing their time as they settle into the program .

St Michaels Preschool
Preschool is a very rewarding, interesting and vital introduction to the beginning of a child's learning.
St Michael's Preschool currently operates on Monday, Wednesday and Thursdays. From 8.30am - 3.30pm.
St Michael's provide a full preschool program with the focus being on social skills, self -help skills and independence. 19 children a day attend which allows individual attention and guidance.
Transition to school readiness program includes library, small group work, and building strong friendships.
St Michael's preschool provides children with experience in Art and craft, science, music and movement, language in both indoor and outdoor environment.
St Michael's work in association with Hill's Outreach centre, which is a community based advisory service for providing education support for preschool children at no further cost to the families.
