Interrelate Family Centres is a not for profit, Government funded family and relationship counselling organisation.
Our roots date back to 1926 when we began our pioneering work as the Father and Son movement of Australia. The organisation delivered sexuality education to young men in churches, schools and venues across New South Wales.
In 1934 Mothers and Daughters were include, and the organisation published its groundbreaking booklet "The Guide to Virile Manhood"
As you can imagine, this booklet containing anatomical diagrams and information on sex caused quite a stir with a call for it to be banned, and copies burned by some church groups.
In 1960 the Men and Women amalgamated and we became the Family Life Movement of Australia. Marriage Education was introduced in 1962.
Interrelate Family Centres as we are now called; continue to offer sexuality education in schools around the Hills District.
Our Relationship services have been going strong in the region for around 30 years with our centres in Castle Hill and then our move to Dural 3 years ago.
We continue to work with families to help them through relationship difficulties at our branch at 685 Old Northern Road Dural.
If anyone reading this still has a copy of the "Guide to Virile Manhood" we would be delighted to hear from you. There will be a prize for the person who can show us a copy.
Please call our branch at Dural on 9653 9533
Further details of our counselling services and relationship education programmes, will follow in the coming months on the "My Local Guide" website.
