Hills Community Care Mental Health Respite             Program

Hills Community Care Mental Health Respite Program provides services to help you to have a break from your caring role.

Hills Community Care Mental Health Respite Program offers:

  • In-home respite - where a worker will care for your care recipient while you have a break;
  • Recreational and social support - where a worker will take your care recipient on a recreational or social activity, such as shopping or having a coffee;
  • Social day programs - where your care recipient can come to a centre to enjoy activities, lunch and outings. Transport provided.
  • Transport to medical appointments - where a worker provides transport to and from medical-related appointments. You may be required to attend with the care recipient if the situation requires it.
  • Carer support and education

You may use these services once or on a regular basis. We aim to provide a flexible respite service, so contact us to discuss your needs.

Eligibility

To be eligible to receive services from Hills Community Care Mental Health Respite Program:
  • You must be caring for someone with a severe mental illness;
  • You and your care recipient must reside in the Auburn, Baulkham Hills, Blacktown, Holroyd or Parramatta council areas;
  • Priority is given to carers who are 65 years of age or older, but carers under 65 are also eligible.
  • Carers of people with dual diagnosis (mental illness and intellectual disability) are eligible for this program.

Costs:
There is no charge for any of these programs.

Assessment:
Before service can be provided, an assessment will be carried out of your needs and your care recipient's needs. This will ensure that we provide a service which meets your needs and your care recipient's needs, in an appropriate and planned way
