THE HILLS HOLROYD PARRAMATTA
MIGRANT RESOURCE CENTRE The Hills, Holroyd, Parramatta Migrant Resource Centre (THHP MRC) is a community based, non-profit organisation established to promote the well being of migrants, refugees and humanitarian entrants living in the local government areas of Baulkham Hills, Holroyd and Parramatta.
The THHP MRC provides free settlement information and referral and other services to all migrants and refugees without discrimination.
The centre has a variety of funding sources; however it receives the majority of its funding from the Department of Immigration, Multicultural and Indigenous Affairs.

The THHP MRC is managed by a community based Board of Management. The Centre Manager oversees the day-to-day functioning of the organisation and is responsible to the Board of Management.
The MRC coordinates the development and provision of services for newly arrived migrants and refugees and offers free services such as:
- Information on basic services
- Bilingual settlement casework service
- Advice on settlement problems
- Referral to government and other services in the local government area
- Assistance by multilingual staff
- Access to information sessions on a variety of settlement issues such as health, education, immigration, housing and social security.
- Community development projects
- Use of conference rooms/sessional offices for community groups
- Training courses
- Access to phone, photocopying and Internet for job seekers
- Assistance to unemployed migrants
- English classes and first aid courses
- Assessing community needs and assisting relevant services to address them
- Tax help for people on low income (sessional) between, July - October.
- Migration agents/solicitors give advice regarding immigration matters. By appointment only.
- Legal advice given by legal advisors/solicitors. By appointment only.
Our Vision is to be a facilitator to newly-arrived and emerging migrant communities in the Hills Shire, Holroyd and Parramatta Local Government Areas in NSW, empowering and assisting them through specialised service provision to meet their settlement needs, eventually to become self-sufficient and happy members of the Australian Community.
Our Mission is to establish an appropriate organisational structure, enlivened by sensitive and interactive policies and procedures that will support desired results in the key areas of activities identified and undertaken to empower and assist the emerging migrant communities to become self-sufficient and happy members of the communities in the Baulkham Hills, Holroyd and Parramatta Local Government Areas of New South Wales.

To use the MRC's settlement services all you need to do is ring the MRC on (02) 9687 9901 and make an appointment to see someone who speaks your language or if we don't have a caseworker who speaks your language our staff will use an interpreter.

Settlement Grants Program (SGP) |
The Settlement Grants Program is designed to respond to the needs of newly arrived migrants and humanitarian entrants experiencing difficulties in accessing mainstream services.
Services provided under this program include: casework, information and referral, liaison and advocacy with service providers.
The MRC employs bilingual Settlement Grants Program (SGP) to provide settlement information and referrals in the area of English language classes, housing, employment, education and training, health, immigration, family issues, etc.
The settlement workers outreach at various other locations in order to meet the needs of individuals and communities.
The MRC has a number of SGP workers that try to assist in the settlement process:

EARLY INTERVENTION AND PERINATAL PROGRAM
Early Intervention project is a Department of Community Services funded project under Families NSW. The project covers the Parramatta Holroyd local government areas to:
- Support families from the target groups listed who have children 0-8yrs needing extra support
- Collaborate with appropriate services to provide extra support to families Facilitate access of families within the target groups to family support and other children's services
- Provide services in a culturally supportive way
- The target groups for the early intervention project are:
- Newly arrived migrants (within the last 5 years)
- Temporary Protection Visa holders
- Refugees
- Isolated Families

Families First CALD Perinatal Project |
The MRC's Perinatal team works in partnership with relevant health services to provide services and strategies to link CALD families to early intervention and prevention prenatal services and education.
Perinatal period refers to the period of conception to 2 years of age.
The project covers two areas: Holroyd and Parramatta LGAs.
The perinatal workers:
- Enhance access for CALD families to early intervention and prevention perinatal services and education, particularly CALD families with children 0-2 years from small and emerging communities.
- Collaborate with relevant health services to enhance service providers' understanding of specific CALD communities cultural sensitivities and the value of traditional tribal and other ethno-specific perinatal practice.
- The program includes:
- Early days parenting groups
- Early words program
- Referring new mothers to relevant services

Strength to Strength |
Strength to Strength Western Sydney is a family relationships program for humanitarian entrant families. A partnership between Relationships Australia NSW, Auburn Migrant Resource Centre and Baulkham Hills Holroyd Parramatta Migrant Resource Centre.
Strength to Strength (STS) is a family relationships program which supports humanitarian entrant families, residing in the Local Government Areas of: Auburn, Holroyd, Parramatta, Blacktown and Baulkham Hills as they seek to strengthen their family relationships. It provides assistance in a culturally appropriate way by matching bi-lingual, bi-cultural family workers with families.
Strength to Strength provides:
- Family counselling about parenting and changing roles in the family
- Parenting groups about child discipline, conflict resolution and effective communication
- Workshops about relationships after migration
- Support groups, casework, information, referral and advocacy
Strength to Strength is funded by the Commonwealth Department of Family and Community Services and Indigenous Affairs (FaCSIA) under the Family Relationship Services Program.
