Colleges & TAFE in the Hills District


There are a variety of options for adult education in Western Sydney & the Hills District, ranging from short courses such as learning flower arranging, a new language or business skills at a local community college, to vocational courses at your local TAFE right up to a full undergraduate or postgraduate degree at the University of Western Sydney

UWS - University of Western Sydney

UWS currently has 30,000 students enrolled over 6 campuses in Western Sydney at Bankstown, Blacktown, Campbelltown, Richmond, Parramatta & Penrith.

The Blacktown campus of UWS is located at the Nirimba Education Precinct, accessed via Eastern Rd Quakers Hill. This area also houses a TAFE college, plus Catholic & State senior high schools.

Blacktown campus courses include:

  • commerce
  • building
  • environmental planning
  • arts

Public Transport:

Bus: Busways route 750 links Penrith campus with the Blacktown campus.

Train: From Quakers Hill station, the Blacktown campus is a 15-20 min walk along Lalor Rd to Quakers Hill Parkway.

Access is from Eastern Road, Quakers Hill and the campus is about a 10-15 min drive from the M4 and M2 motorways, and 5 mins or so from the M7.

TAFE Colleges in Western Hills District

There are numerous TAFE colleges in the Hills District and surrounds including colleges at Baulkham Hills, Blacktown, Nirimba (Quakers Hill), Richmond, Nepean and Mount Druitt. TAFE colleges in Hills District :-

  • Baulkham Hills Courses at Baulkham Hills focus on business & management, tourism &hospitality and information technology courses


  • Blacktown Courses at Blacktown focus largely on business services, computing, manufacturing and transport.


  • Nirimba (Quakers Hill) Courses at Nirimba Education Precinct focus mainly around building and construction, logistics, computing, child studies, business services, welfare and music.


  • Richmond Courses at Richmond focus mainly on Information Technology, Business and Administration Services, General Education, Animal Care, Equine Studies, Sustainable Agriculture, Aquaculture, Floristry, Food Technology, Horticultural and Environmental Studies.


  • Nepean (campuses at Kingswood and Penrith) Courses at Nepean TAFE include tourism and hospitality, retailing, media, health, personal and community services, finance and business, with a specialist Arts and Design Centre .


  • Mount Druitt This TAFE is a major centre for trade, technology inc information technology (IT) , mechanical, civil, electrical and electronics engineering, transport and plumbing
