Local Attractions

  • Nurragingy Blacksmith
    • Traditional blacksmith demonstrations
    • Free demonstrations most weekends and public holidays (approx 8.30am - 4.30pm).
    • Location: Blacksmith's shed at Nurragingy Reserve, Knox Rd, Doonside.
    • Ph: 9839 6000 Further info - Blacktown City Council.
  • Koala Park Sanctuary
    • 84 Castle Hill Road, West Pennant Hills
    • At the Koala Park Sanctuary koalas are on show all day, everyday and you can cuddle a koala.
    • Daily koala shows occur at 10.20 a.m. 11.45am, 2.00pm and 3.00pm
      • Pet, feed, cuddle and have a photo taken with you and the koalas.
    • Sheep shearing shows run daily at 10.30am and 2.30pm & you can try shearing yourself.
    • Koalas roam freely within the 10 acres of rainforest, eucaplypt us trees and native gardens.
    • Other animals include kangaroos (available to walk in and pat), wombats, cockatoos, echidnas, dingoes, wedge tailed eagles, flying foxes, kookuburras and emus.

  • Cumberland State Forest
    • 95 Castle Hill Road West Pennant Hills
    • Contains 40 hectares of native forest.
      • Forest walks through tall eucalypt forest;
      • Find out how native forests are managed in NSW by walking the Forestry Trail
      • Explore rainforest on the Palm Gully Trail;
      • Sensory Trail is stroller and wheelchair-friendly allowing you to touch, hear and smell your way along the trail.
    • Guided forest walks are also available.
